Anne McCue

Had such an awesome time in December, that we're bringing her back! Check out the videos at the link above.

Anne McCue comes to Cooldog from Australia, by way of Nashville, Tennesee. She has recently been included along with Bob Dylan, the Byrds, Patty Griffin and other great artists in the collection '4 Decades of Folk Rock' and was a special guest at the International Guitar Festival.

She released her latest album "East Of Electric" in August 2008. McCue recorded and produced the album at her own Flying Machine Studio in Nashville. It was mixed by Mike Esser at 16 Ton Studio and was mastered by Ray Kennedy at Zen Masters.

McCue recorded the album whilst waiting to record a new electric album. Inspired by the golden era of folk pop music which took place in the late sixties with such albums as Rubber Soul, Aftermath, bands like The Byrds and artists like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, Anne set about recording, playing every instrument she could get her hands on - guitars, mandolin, cheatin' banjo, piano, harmonica, lap steel, slide banjo, bass guitar, ukulele, shaker, tambourine, organ, drum etc.

  • HARP MAGAZINE
If you’re of a certain age and inclination, you’ll welcome Anne McCue’s Koala Motel as kin to Pretenders II, Shoot Out the Lights and Rumours. But while some artists boast their influences like a window display at a trendy vintage store, counting the gems on on the Australian singer/songwriter’s second disc is like walking through an art gallery, with something to delight and intrigue at every turn. There’s the fuzzed-up scrim of her blues guitar on “As The Crow Flies”; the harmonies (with John Doe), reminiscent of Richard and Linda Thompson, in “Driving Down Alvarado”; the plaintive country edge of “Shivers.” On this last track... McCue sounds like her alto came out of God’s workshop. She’s confident, polished, smart, and Koala Motel is wholly original — and indelible. - PAMELA MURRAY WINTERS | HARP

  • WASHINGTON POST
"With such skill and self-confidence, McCue should have no trouble mastering the headlining slots that are surely in her future."

  • AMERICAN SONGWRITER
"Koala Motel sounds like a classic on first listening... replete with everything that makes great rock great"

  • BILLBOARD
"Anne McCue is the virtual definition of triple threat. A potent singer, thoughtful songwriter and tough guitarist, she completely comes into her own on Koala Motel."

  • ROLLING STONE
"Australian singer/songwriter/guitarist Anne McCue wields potent bluesy rock against her unaffected, naturally wistful voice."

  • PERFORMING SONGWRITER
    "A killer guitar player..."

  • LUCINDA WILLIAMS
"Initially, her stunning voice hooked me in. Then I got inside the songs. The first chance I got, I went to see her perform ... I was floored! The combination of her tom-boyish beauty mixed with the precision and assertiveness with which she approached the guitar, her surrounding languid and earthy vocals created an intoxicating blend."

  • NANCY WILSON (HEART)
"This new album is such a beauty. The song Beautiful Thing is stunning. I love every song on this record...maybe because Anne McCue is my Aussie clone!"
Opening: Larissa Moore
With her soulful voice and skilled guitar playing, Larissa Moore is no stranger to the music scene. Being the daughter of a local musician has given her a lifelong exposure to the local music scene. When Larissa was younger, her mother had her singing with her on car trips and at home (where Larissa received most of her vocal training). In addition to both of her parents, artists ranging from Janis Joplin, Pixies, Rancid, The Distillers, to Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, and the Cranberries have influenced Larissa. From her very first performance at a Delmarva Friends of Folk Coffee house through today, Larissa has been a popular performer at local open mics, churches, and talent shows since the age of 15. Larissa has had experience playing with a few local bands and her current project is the new group The Lusionistics. Now 23, she writes and performs her own material and has learned piano and bass guitar. Larissa's eclectic musical sets consist of original material as well as contemporary covers of various popular artists.
