John Flynn
  • Songwriter and activist John Flynn calls himself a “hopeful pessimist”. The pessimism comes from a heartbreaking, clear-eyed honesty in assessing the condition of the world we live in. The hope comes from a deep-rooted faith in the beauty and resilience of the human spirit.
  • In an artist of Flynn’s caliber, the tension inherent in these seemingly contradictory points of view yields the kind of songs that moved Kris Kristofferson to compare Flynn to the best writers he knows, and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott to boast “John Flynn is the John Lennon of the plasma generation!”
  • Of Flynn’s new CD Two Wolves, Chris Spector of Midwest Record Recap writes “Flynn might well be one of the greatest hidden treasures the Americana axis has to discover and offer.

ellen cherry is the pseudonym and musical brainchild of Baltimore based singer/songwriter/musician/recording engineer/producer/designer Kristin Putchinski.

Well, at least that's what it says on her business card.

Born and raised outside of Dallas, Texas, Kristin studied piano and 'cello during her school days and then while in college, studying for her totally impractical BA in military history, Kristin picked up the guitar and realized that she could write lyrics and melodies that people seemed to enjoy hearing. She formed a couple of bands and has been performing as ellen cherry for the last 9 years.

Kristin has managed to produce 8 recorded works, including 4 full length albums.

She's been fortunate to share a bill with artists Glenn Tilbrook, Shannon McNally, Josh Ritter, Allison Moorer, Mary Fahl and countless other independent musicians throughout the country.

Kristin divides her time between her own personal music with ellen cherry, writing and recording music for film, and the various side projects with which she's involved.
