During the past year, Liz Longley has received the kinds of accolades and awards that recognize her as one of the finest new talents writing songs today. In 2010, Liz took the Overall Grand Prize, amongst 9,000 entries, in the International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA). Last summer she garnered three of the top honors on the acoustic music scene: 2009 Co-Winner of the Mountain Stage New Song Contest, finalist in the 2009 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Competition, and Grand Prize Winner of the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival’s Songwriter Showcase.
Liz's open approach to songwriting across several genres is not only why her music defies classification, it is also why music lovers seem so taken with her performances---they get to enjoy a little Country, some Acoustic Pop, the Blues, and even some Jazz. Graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2010, Liz has received Berklee's highest honor for songwriting, the Scott Benson Scholarship. Her songs have faired well in Berklee's annual songwriting competitions: "Rush" was chosen as the No. 1 song in 2009, and “Whatever Goes Up” the No. 2 song the year before. An engaging performer, Liz was the student Berklee College of Music selected to represent the school at the 2009 Kennedy Center Conservatory Project in Washington, DC.

honesty". - - Morning Call
"This voice won't stay small long. Straight from Berklee College of Music,
singer-songwriter Liz Longley traffics in the type of sweet, heartbreak-ready
tones and guitar strummed melodies that seem destined to
a bigger audience." - - The Washington Post Express

Erin MacKenzie Casey and Elephant Sky |

Erin has dropped the stage name she used as a minor: "Casey MacKenzie" is no more. Say hello to Erin MacKenzie Casey! She will be bringing her new band, "Elephant Sky."
Erin has played here before, opening for several shows. It's extremely gratifying when the opening act gets a standing O. She's well-loved here, and this time she's coming back in a co-billed show with another Berklee student.
When a musician can balance on the borderline between seductive and sweet while maintaining integrity, it is both a beautiful and powerful thing. Such is the case for singer/songwriter Casey MacKenzie who combines wise observations and playful antics to create a captivating story that weaves in and out of her lyrics. She draws her inspiration from many artists like Billie Holiday, Sara Bareilles, Dar Williams, Allison Krauss, and Regina Spektor and combines their sounds to create a soft, approachable music genre. Her music has often been described as ‘…heartbreakingly soft and pure, but strong and knowing.’ With a large range of influences and inspirations, this self-taught pianist takes listeners through her musical journey as they experience pop, jazz, folk and country, all in one sitting. |

opening: Sean Cheezum |
Sean, originally from the Dover area, played here once before and impressed us with his songwriting and his guitar skills. We're very pleased to be able to bring him back to his old stomping grounds! You can find out more about him here: http://www.myspace.com/seancheezum
Armed with a 6 string and a head full of dreams, Sean breaks into the east coast scene with his catchy rhythyms and heartfelt lyrics, painting a mental picture of reality. Having played numerous open mics and made a name for himself in the Md/De area he's made his way up to New York City seeing where his strange luck will take him. "I have a different perspective than most other people. Some would say that I operate on a different frequency. I have a tendency to write about sad things in a happy way which helps me to deal with what I'm going through at the time." Not a believer in Genre limitations, he's influenced by everything from drum and bass electronica to ambient monk chanting and old swing. With his percussive style and anti mainstream mentality, he makes his way from place to place spreading the joy of music as far as it will take him. |
